Skin exfoliation is a very important step in your skincare process. Our skin cells have a life cycle of 28-48 days. This means that the outer layer of your skin renews every 4-6 weeks. When you exfoliate, you help the skin in its natural process toward a softer and smoother surface. So, is it important to exfoliate? The answer is yes. You also want to exfoliate because it will help your other products, including serums and moisturizers, better penetrate into your pores.
At HelloBody, we carry both physical and chemical exfoliators to help you in your exfoliating endeavors. Both work to “unglue” the bonds holding your dead skin on the surface and shed it- that’s why it’s very important to exfoliate weekly!
Physical exfoliators, like our Coco Pure coffee scrub.
Our Coco Pure coffee scrub contains natural coffee grains to eliminate makeup residue and dead cells. It also contains peat extract to gently cleanse the skin of everyday toxins. The added bonus? Unlike most facial scrubs, it doesn’t dry the skin! The avocado and sweet almond oils ensure a nourishing skin-loving formula. We recommend using this scrub 1-3 times a week to keep your skin fresh and clean.
Chemical exfoliators, like our Aloe Tonic.
The word “chemical” can sound a bit scary, but this type of exfoliator is actually very gentle. Our Aloe Tonic is formulated without alcohol and contains lactic acid, an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid). The Aloe Tonic also has aloe vera, used for its moisturizing and soothing properties, and cucumber water, which acts as an antioxidant. Depending on your skin type, you may use the Aloe Tonic anywhere from once a week to daily. Make sure to use sunscreen too, as AHAs can make your skin more sensitive to the sun! Additionally, always follow-up with a night cream to further hydrate your skin.
To ensure a proper skin renewal process, it is important to exfoliate at least once a week. You will notice clearer, fresher, and softer skin in no time!
