How to determine your skin type?

All skins are different, so you need to know how to determine your skin type to find the skincare products that work best for you. Your skin type will depend mostly on your genetics, but it can change over time and be affected by both internal (diet, hormones, stress, etc.) and external factors (weather, pollution, etc.).

There are 5 types of healthy skin: normal, dry, oily, combination, and sensitive.

Let’s take a deeper dive into each skin type.

Determine Your Skin Type - 1

Normal Skin

Some have what is considered a “normal” skin type, meaning the skin is overall balanced: it is neither too oily nor dry. Your sebum production is on par, and your hydration levels are sufficient. Any HelloBody product line will suit your skin and help you keep your glowing complexion.

Dry Skin

If your skin is on the drier side, it is not producing enough sebum to retain moisture properly. This may cause a feeling of tightness on your face, and in more serious cases, dry patches, flakiness, or itchiness. You will want to look at our COCO Pure-moisture line that aims to purify and keep your skin moisturized throughout the day.

Oily Skin

When you have oily skin, your skin cells are producing too much sebum. You will notice a shiny look throughout your face, enlarged pores, and potential blemishes. Most skincare products that target oily skin have harsh ingredients that strip your good skin oils away too; ours don’t! Our ROSE Pure-balance collection contains mild and gentle ingredients to help regulate sebum production and achieve a more even complexion.

Combination Skin

Typically, combination skin is characterized by excess sebum production in your T-zone area (forehead, nose, and chin), and either dry or normal skin on the rest of your face. You will notice larger pores, shiny skin, and dry patches. Each part of your skin may need different types of product and care; so make sure to check out our ROSE Pure-Balance collection to ease your T-zone area, and we suggest the COCO Pure-Moisture for the drier or more normal parts of your skin.

Sensitive Skin

Last but not least, sensitive skin is another very common skin type. Your skin often overreacts to specific products or ingredients, causing redness, itching, or burning sensations. It’s important to do some trial and error to figure out exactly what is causing your skin to overreact. Our CARA Strength & Protection range of products is ideal for sensitive skin. The products are formulated with soothing, caring, and antioxidant ingredients that help strengthen your skin’s barrier. The CARA line also protects your skin from harmful environmental factors.

Determine Your Skin Type - 2, CARA

It is important to determine your skin type as early as possible in order to bring the right care your skin needs. Keep in mind that your skin type can change over time, and always listen to the signs your skin gives you.
