HelloBody Cares: Women’s Month 2020

March 8 is International Women’s Day – a day in which we celebrate all women and their accomplishments. International Women’s Day is special in that it encourages the international community to pay closer attention to gender-based discrimination and violence against women, in particular. This year, the theme for the day is, “Each for equal.” That’s right, because equal rights should prevail across all genders.

This year, HelloBody will be celebrating by giving back. Read on to find out how!

Why is International Women’s Day celebrated?

Everything stems from the desire for more independence and equal rights. On March 19, 1911, millions of women internationally took to the streets to fight for voting rights and better working conditions. March 8 was officially declared “International Women’s Day” (IWD) by the United Nations as part of the “International Year of Women” in 1975.

International Women’s Day is a call for equal rights across genders.

While Western countries are by no means perfect in all aspects of gender neutrality and equal rights for men and women, many parts of the world are significantly further behind. In some areas, the idea of equality between men and women is, in practice, still very much in its infancy.

This year, we will be providing support where we feel the need is greatest.

In Thailand, there are still significant gaps between the sexes. As a result, we have sought a non-governmental organization (NGO) that shares our values and is strongly committed to Female Empowerment within the region.

The Pratthanadee Foundation gives women the chance to further their education and actively supports them so they may lead an independent and self-determined life.

We have chosen to give to the Pratthanadee Foundation because we truly believe in their mission and want to do what we can to help.

Even a small donation can make a big difference here.

“There is a saying in Thailand that, if you help a man, you help an individual. But if you help a woman, you help an entire family.”

Enrique Cuan, Founder Pratthanadee Foundation

HelloBody x Pratthanadee Foundation is a partnership that came about as a result of a shared commitment to equal rights, female empowerment and increased self-confidence for women.

Our philanthropic campaign will occur on International Women’s Day: Sunday, March 8. Your purchase will make a difference.

On this year’s International Women’s Day, we will donate $1 from every order to the Pratthanadee Foundation in Thailand.

About the Organization: The Pratthanadee Foundation

Pratthanadee is a registered NGO for disadvantaged women and girls in Thailand. It is an award-winning charity; with its headquarters in Bangkok and a branch in the Ubon Ratchathani province.

The non-profit organization was founded in 2000 and supports two different groups of women. The first is women with low levels of education who are unemployed or in unstable, insecure or underpaid employment positions. The second is girls from poor backgrounds who are in the process of making important decisions for their future. The groups may be different, but the aim is the same: Pratthanadee seeks to empower disadvantaged women and girls through their “Better Me” program.

HelloBody Cares will not only donate money, but this money will serve to support women in their education and personal development and, as a result, will work to help improve their overall self-esteem.
