FAQ – Ingredients

Do you use organic ingredients in your products?

For all our products, we attach great importance to the quality and origin of the ingredients. We use valuable oils, extracts and other active ingredients that come from certified organic cultivation wherever possible. You can view which ingredients come from organic cultivation by checking for the asterisk (*organic) in the INCI list of the respective product on our website or on the packaging.

How do you calculate the natural content of a formula?

The natural origin content of a formula is calculated according to ISO standard 16128 and indicates the percentage of all natural ingredients and ingredients with a natural origin in a product.
To calculate the natural origin content of a certain product, the percentages of the individual ingredients are multiplied by the natural index and the results are summed up. The natural origin index of a raw material ranges between 0 and 1. Natural ingredients, such as a vegetable oil, have an index of 1, while purely synthetic ingredients, such as silicone oil, have an index of 0.

Why aren’t all your products 100% natural?

A committment to naturalness is part of our DNA. That’s why we are doing our best to to develop products with the highest possible natural ingredient content. At the moment, our products are made with an average of about 98% natural ingredients. It’s a slight discrepancy to 100%, but one that helps us to offer high quality products while still preserving the formula.

Do your products contain PEGs?

We have committed ourselves to not using PEGs in our newly developed formulas.
In keeping with our mission, we are constantly working to make the formulas of products that have been on the market for some time more natural – so that these, too, will be PEG-free in the future.

Do your products contain phenoxyethanol?

Phenoxyethanol is a widely used cosmetic preservative that is considered safe up to 1%. We avoid using phenoxyethanol as a preservative in the formula development of new products out of personal conviction. Sometimes, though, a single active ingredient has to be preserved with phenoxyethanol. In these cases, we contact the supplier to find out whether the same ingredient is also available with an alternative preservative. Since this is not always an option, phenoxyethanol occasionally appears in the ingredient lists of the products.

In keeping with our mission toward natural origin products, we are always working to reformulate the products that we have on the market in order to continue to gradually reduce and eventually eliminate the use of phenoxyethanol.

Do your products contain titanium dioxide?

Titanium dioxide is a safe and widely used substance that also occurs in natural cosmetics. We often use titanium dioxide for the shimmer particles or color/colour pigments in our products. It comes from a mineral and is classified as a natural source.

We do not use titanium dioxide in nanoparticles. Study data suggest that these nanoparticles can partially penetrate the skin or cause lung damage if a large amount is regularly inhaled. In our products, titanium dioxide is always part of a solid compound and contained in a formula matrix, so any risk of inhalation can be excluded.
