How do you test the skin compatibility of your products?
In addition to the safety test carried out in accordance with EU regulations, the skin tolerability of all of our products is tested by Dermatest GmbH – an external, independent testing institute, meaning that the products are dermatologically tested on normal or sensitive skin (the latter only applies for our CARA line). All of our products have been rated with the highest grading of “excellent”. For further information on how we test our products, please feel free to contact us.
Please note: If you have skin allergies, are prone to acne or suffer from some other dermatological conditions, please take the time to carefully check the respective product ingredients before use. You will find all relevant information on the product packaging as well as on the product pages of our website.
If in doubt, please consult your dermatologist.
If you wish to use our products on a baby or toddler, please seek the advice of a pediatrician prior to use.
If you are pregnant, we always recommend checking with your gynaecologist before using any of our products.
Are your products comedogenic?
The term comedogenic refers to substances that can clog pores and promote impurities. There are various lists of ingredients, especially oils, that are suspected of being comedogenic. The emphasis here is on “suspicted,” because there is no concrete evidence. Many of these classifications are based on outdated test methods.
Each individual’s skin is unique and reacts differently to certain ingredients. Even if a single ingredient is classified as potentially comedogenic, this classification does not apply to an entire formula. The finely balanced products in our lines are especially developed for different skin types and our formulas are designed to be non-comedogenic.
Please note: If your skin is prone to blemishes and pimples, our ROSE and ALOÉ lines are the best options for you. In general, a mild yet effective daily cleansing is essential for every skin type to prevent facial oils and cream ingredients from clogging your pores.
When do your products expire?
Unopened products have a shelf-life of 30 months.
Most of our products will keep for six months once they have been opened.
You will find the PAO symbol on the packaging of all our products. This shows how long you can use the product once it’s been opened.
Do you use alcohol in your products?
We have decided to completely avoid using ethanol (INCI = Alcohol, Alcohol denat.) as it can, in certain circumstances, dry out the skin – however, that depends on the concentration and composition of the formula. In case you are wondering why the word “alcohol” appears in the INCI list for some of our products: we intentionally use skin-friendly sugar and fatty alcohols because they have caring and moisturizing effects on the skin. One example for that is cetearyl alcohol.
There are just a few exceptions where you can find phenoxyethanol or isopropyl alcohol in the INCI list. We do not use these substances as preservatives in the formula development of new products. Sometimes, though, it happens that a single active ingredient is only available with phenoxyethanol as a preservative. The alcohol content in the final product is very low and moisturizing ingredients like panthenol balance out the possible dehydrating effects.
